CEO and President – Reinhard Radermacher

Reinhard Radermacher is professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland. He holds an MS and Ph.D. in Physics from the Munich Institute of Technology and was a visiting scientist and NATO scholar at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Dr. Radermacher is an internationally recognized expert in heat transfer and working fluids for energy conversion systems, including heat pumps, air-conditioners, and refrigeration systems. His work has resulted in over one hundred publications, as well as numerous invention records and nine patents, and he co-authored three books.

Dr. Radermacher founded the Energy Laboratory in 1983 and is the director and co-founder of the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) at the University of Maryland. The Center is taking the lead in developing energy conversion systems that meet environmental and economic concerns.

His service includes international activities such as US representative of the International Energy Agency Annex 13, past vice president of Commission B1 and President of Commission B2 of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), as well as invited lecture tours to Europe, China, Japan, Korea, and South America. Nationally, he is an active member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the International Institute of Refrigeration as well as SAE. He serves as the editor of the ASHRAE HVAC&R Research Journal starting in July 2002.

Leadership Team
Yunho Hwang - Thermal Systems Design

Yunho was previously a Research Professor at CEEE focusing on alternative refrigerants particularly involving CO2 transcritical cycle-- enhancing the understandings of the CO2 transcritical cycle through cycle simulation and experimental studies. His career spans twenty years, including ten yearsas a Senior Researcher at Samsung in Korea. He is responsible for the Refrigerant Alternative Consortium within CEEE that is sponsored by the industry, government and research institutions.

His service includes international activities such as Secretary of Commission B2 of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR). Nationally, he is an active member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE) and International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR). Yunho received his undergraduate degree from Korea University and his MS and PhD from the University of Maryland.

Vikrant Aute - Software Architecture and Thermal Systems Analysis

Vikrant is a Faculty Research Assistant at the University of Maryland and holds a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Maryland. His skills and research expertise includes thermal systems simulation and optimization, working fluid properties, numerical analysis, distributed application development and parallel processing. He has several professional affiliations (ASHRAE, ASME, SAE, ASQ) and professional certifications (MCP, MCSA, SCJP).
